Angcm. sesquipedale x sib

This orchid is widely known as 'Darwin's Orchid,' although it is also known as the Christmas Star Orchid for its blooming season or the Rocket Orchid for its shape. Its flowers are incredibly fragrant at night and will fill a room with their somewhat spicy scent. Long spurs on the flowers attract A. sesquipedale's only pollinator, a moth with a proboscis that is just long enough to reach the nectar at the base of the spur. Darwin predicted the existence of this moth based purely off of A. sesquipedale's floral anatomy. Sadly, the moth was discovered after Darwin's passing, but the power of his careful observation and prediction will go down in history. 

Winter bloomer that can be fragrant at night. Grows best in bright indirect light and warm to hot conditions, with heavy watering during growth and excellent drainage. Offered as blooming size only, does not ship with flowers. This wonderful species with 8" leaf span is in 4" pot. Limited availability!
