Cattleya schilleriana is a rare bifoliate orchid species native to coastal Bahia, Brazil. Known for its compact habit and highly fragrant, glossy blooms, it features wavy-edged olive-to-brown petals covered in dense reddish spots and a prominent fuchsia-striped lip.

• Origin: Native to riverine cliff habitats in Espírito Santo and Bahia, Brazil, though considered nearly extinct in its wild habitat.

• Flowers: Produce 4-inch (10 cm) waxy, fragrant flowers with wavy brown-spotted petals and a broad, bright magenta-purple lip with white venation.

• Foliage: Compact growth habit featuring short, two-leaved pseudobulbs that often take on a purplish tint under strong lighting.

• Temperature: Warm-to-intermediate conditions (60°F–85°F / 15°C–29°C).

• Humidity: High humidity levels (60–80%) accompanied by continuous, gentle air movement.

• Water & Substrate: Requires rapid drying between waterings. Prefers mounting on cork bark or planting in open wooden baskets filled with coarse bark mix to prevent root rot.
