Golden Scent for Summer Days
A classic warmth-loving Cymbidium that breaks all the rules by flowering in the heat of August. It stays manageable in size, putting up upright spikes that hold up to a dozen flowers without crowding.
The blooms open a bright, clear buttercup-yellow with subtle red peppering across the creamy white lip. Waxy petals hold their shape through heat that would melt lesser orchids, presenting a neat, triangular form with a trumpet-shaped lip.
Most Cymbidiums require a chilly greenhouse and a cold night in November to show anything, but this one was bred for the heat. It blooms right through the height of summer, filling a sunroom with a bright citrus scent that peaks around noon. You get the classic Cymbidium look on a plant light enough to move, with zero winter-cooling drama required.
