A Dark Crimson Dendrobium With Serious Bench Appeal
A compact hybrid bred for high-contrast color, packing immense visual impact into a surprisingly manageable footprint.
Each stem carries tight clusters of deep, wine-red flowers featuring a glossy texture and a velvety deep crimson lip. The flowers sit flat and rigid on the spike, overlapping slightly to create the effect of a plush velvet ribbon draped through the foliage.
You grow this one for the saturation. While many red orchids lean toward magenta or brick, this bloom hits a genuine, dark garnet tone that holds its color without fading as the flowers age. It branches reliably on mature canes, giving you multiple spikes of long-lasting blooms on a plant compact enough to share a crowded windowsill. It grows with vigor, fills a pot quickly, and looks every bit like a show-bench contender without asking for special greenhouse treatment.
Quick Care Guide
-
Light: Bright, filtered light. A bright east or protected south window gives leaves a healthy light-green tone.
-
Water: Water heavily during active growth, then allow the potting medium to dry almost completely between waterings.
-
Temperature: Nights 58–65°F, days 70–86°F. Intermediate to warm conditions suit it best.
-
Fertilizer: Balanced orchid fertilizer weakly weekly during spring and summer; reduce significantly in winter.
-
Mature size: Canes reach twelve to eighteen inches high, with flower spikes adding another six to eight inches.
