Prepare to be enchanted by the Ianclarkara Cheyenne Marie 'Pink Ice', a delightful Zygopetalum-type orchid that's sure to capture your heart! This charming hybrid, a relatively new genus in the orchid world, boasts a truly unique color palette.
Let's trace its fascinating lineage. Ianclarkara is a complex intergeneric hybrid that brings together four distinct genera: Aganisia, Pabstia, Zygopetalum, and Zygosepalum. The 'Pink Ice' clone specifically comes from a cross of × Pabanisia Eva's Blue Amazon and × Zygolum Louisendorf grex. This intricate parentage results in a plant with a wonderful blend of characteristics from its diverse ancestors, giving it its distinct look and growth habit.
The flowers of 'Pink Ice' are truly special. They are an opalescent, pale pink, a rather unusual and captivating color for a Zygopetalum-alliance orchid. You'll notice subtle variations in the pink, sometimes with delicate veining or a hint of green near the column, adding to their charm. The labellum, or lip, often displays darker pink or purplish markings, creating a lovely contrast. The flowers are typically 2 to 3 inches across, featuring a waxy texture that makes them appear almost translucent. While not always strongly fragrant, some individuals may detect a light, sweet scent, particularly in warm conditions. These beauties typically bloom in late winter to spring, though good culture can sometimes encourage additional flowering.
The foliage of Ianclarkara Cheyenne Marie 'Pink Ice' contributes to its appeal. It forms plump, ovoid pseudobulbs, usually about 2 to 3 inches tall, with one or two lanceolate leaves emerging from the top. These leaves are a vibrant medium green, somewhat thin and upright, typically growing to 10 to 15 inches in length. The overall plant height, including its lovely flower spikes, can reach 18 to 24 inches, making it a manageable size for many growing environments.

Care Instructions
- Light: Provide bright, indirect light. An east-facing window is often perfect, or a south/west-facing window with some sheer curtaining to protect from harsh direct sun, especially during the hottest parts of the day. Too much direct sun can scorch the delicate leaves.
- Water: Water thoroughly when the potting medium approaches dryness. These orchids appreciate consistent moisture but absolutely hate sitting in soggy conditions, which can lead to root rot. Allow for good drainage and avoid letting the pot sit in standing water.
- Temperature: Ianclarkara 'Pink Ice' prefers intermediate to cool temperatures. Aim for daytime temperatures between 65 and 80°F, with a night drop to 55 to 65°F. A good temperature differential between day and night can help encourage blooming.
- Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally between 50% and 70%. Good air circulation is crucial to prevent fungal issues, especially in higher humidity.
- Potting Medium: A well-draining, somewhat fine potting mix is recommended. A blend of fine bark, perlite, and a bit of sphagnum moss works well to retain some moisture while still allowing air to the roots. Repot every 1 to 2 years, or when the medium starts to break down, typically after flowering when new growth is just beginning.
