Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica f. flava in spike

Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica f. flava is a rare, xanthic (yellow) color form of the warm-growing botanical orchid species native to the Philippines. Unlike the typical form—which features striking dark rose, reddish-brown, or purple glyph-like markings—the flava variant replaces red pigments with bright lemon to golden-yellow patterning on a white or cream background.

• Flowers: Star-shaped, waxy, long-lasting flowers (2–3 inches) with distinct yellow, calligraphic lines covering the sepals and petals, complemented by a white, slightly hairy lip.

• Fragrance: Strongly scented, featuring a sweet, citrusy, or floral aroma during peak daylight hours.

• Inflorescence: Sequential bloomer on branching spikes that stay green for multiple seasons. Do not cut old green flower spikes, as they will produce flowers or keikis (plantlets) year after year.
